A delicious and easy recipe for a Balsamic Glazed Mushroom Tart, perfect as a vegetarian appetizer.
Ingredients
- 2 cups cremini mushrooms, sliced
- 7 ounces good-quality puff pastry dough, cut into 2 rectangles
- 5 ounces gruyere, jarlsberg or emmenthaler cheese, grated
- 3 shallots, cut into rings
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
- 2 teaspoons soy sauce
- ½ teaspoon dark brown sugar
- 4 sprigs fresh thyme
Instructions
- Preheat the oven according to puff pastry package instructions.
- In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat and add the shallots and garlic, sautéing until softened.
- Add the sliced mushrooms and cook until they release their moisture and become golden brown.
- Stir in the balsamic vinegar, soy sauce, dark brown sugar, and thyme, cooking for an additional few minutes.
- Roll out the puff pastry and place it on a baking sheet.
- Spread the mushroom mixture evenly over the pastry and sprinkle with grated cheese.
- Bake in the preheated oven until the pastry is golden and puffed, about 20-25 minutes.
- Let cool slightly before slicing and serving.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, use a mix of different mushrooms.
- Can be served warm or at room temperature.
