A delicious and easy recipe for crispy fried sliced mushrooms served with a homemade ranch dressing, perfect as an appetizer or snack.
Ingredients
- 1 lb button or cremini mushrooms, sliced
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup cornmeal (optional, for extra crunch)
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- Vegetable oil, for frying
- For the Ranch Dressing:
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon dried dill
- 1 teaspoon parsley
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1-2 tablespoons milk (to adjust consistency)
Instructions
- In a bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk.
- In another bowl, mix the flour, cornmeal, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
- Dip each mushroom slice into the egg mixture, then coat with the flour mixture.
- Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
- Fry the coated mushrooms in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.
- For the ranch dressing, combine mayonnaise, sour cream, garlic powder, onion powder, dill, parsley, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Mix well and adjust consistency with milk if needed.
- Serve the fried mushrooms warm with ranch dressing on the side.
Notes
- For extra crunch, use cornmeal in the breading.
- Adjust the seasoning in the ranch dressing to taste.
