Description

A delicious and easy-to-make casserole that combines the classic flavors of meatloaf and mac and cheese, perfect for a family-friendly meal.


Ingredients

  • Ground Beef: 1 lb
  • Onion: 1/2 cup, diced
  • Breadcrumbs: 1/2 cup
  • Egg: 1 large
  • Milk: 1/4 cup
  • Salt: 1 tsp
  • Pepper: 1/2 tsp
  • Macaroni: 2 cups, uncooked
  • Cheddar Cheese: 2 cups, shredded
  • Butter: 2 tbsp
  • Flour: 2 tbsp
  • Milk: 2 cups
  • Salt: 1/2 tsp
  • Pepper: 1/4 tsp
  • Paprika: 1/2 tsp
  • Dry Mustard: 1/2 tsp


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, diced onion, breadcrumbs, egg, 1/4 cup milk, 1 tsp salt, and 1/2 tsp pepper. Mix well and form into a loaf.
  3. Place the meatloaf in a greased baking dish and bake for 30 minutes.
  4. While the meatloaf is baking, cook the macaroni according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
  5. In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in flour and cook for 1 minute.
  6. Gradually whisk in 2 cups of milk, cooking until the mixture thickens.
  7. Add 1/2 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp pepper, paprika, and dry mustard to the sauce. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted.
  8. Combine the cooked macaroni with the cheese sauce and mix well.
  9. After 30 minutes, remove the meatloaf from the oven and spread the mac and cheese mixture over the top.
  10. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, until heated through and golden on top.
  11. Let cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add your favorite spices to the meatloaf mixture.
  • Feel free to substitute different types of cheese for a unique twist.
